Acoustic French Pop Goodness from De Palmas

Today’s spotlight is on the French Singer De Palmas (aka Gérald De Palmas, real name Gérald Gardrinier).

De Palmas first rose to stardom in France with the hit song “Sur la Route”  in 1993. In November 2009, he released his impressive fifth studio album, Sortir, which includes among other highlights the English duet “Pandora’s Box” with (and written by) Eagle Eye Cherry.

I like De Palmas because he’s got a unique texture to his voice that makes me feel like I’m being wrapped up in a cozy blanket.

Here’s the country-tinged “Dans une Larme” which sounds like a great road trip song. (The video was shot in New York City).

Also, check out “Mon coeur ne bat plus” (my heart doesn’t beat anymore), where he selectively injects bits of orchestral and electro sound effects into the acoustic Pop. Both songs are taken from De Palmas’ new album, Sortir.
