Neo Soul-Inspired French R&B from Eilijah

Eilijah is a French R&B singer from Montpellier, France. He often draws comparisons to Bobby Valentino, but I think what people mean to say is that he, like Bobby and Ryan Leslie and Ne-Yo, makes Neo Soul-inspired R&B music.

Eilijah’s debut album, Question de Feeling, came out in 2006, and he’s hard at work on a sophomore album, due out this year (I believe…I’ll keep you posted). What I love most about Eilijah is that he has absorbed the entire spectrum of urban music, from Stevie Wonder to Bilal to Usher to A Tribe Called Quest, and infused his own fresh sound with the best elements of all of those influences. You’ll hear a little Stevie, a whole lot of Glenn Lewis, and a dash of Usher in Eilijah’s single, “Question de Feeling.” Check it out.
