Emilie Simon is a French Electro (and Electronica) artist who draws obvious comparisons to Bjork, and also Kate Bush, for her enigmatic music videos and her avant-garde musical style.
Today, this French Female Singer from Montpellier is making some great Electro Pop in English, but here’s a blast from the past.
Emilie Simon’s 2003 debut, self-titled album won her a Victoire de la Musique (French Grammy) for Best Electronica / Dance /Groove album. (She’s won twice more: for the soundtrack to the French version of March of the Penguins/ La Marche de l’empereur, aka March of the Empress, in 2006, and again for her electro album Vegetal in 2007.)
Watch the video for Emilie Simon’s first and biggest hit, the very Portishead-ish “Desert,” from Simon’s debut album.
