Emily Loizeau is a promising young French female singer and songwriter of both British and French descent. She’s been compared to Regina Spektor for her piano compositions, quirky vocal style, and offbeat music videos.

Loizeau sings in both French and English, and cites Georges Brassens, Nina Simone, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and Tom Waits as her musical influences. She’s a classically trained pianist who attended attended theater school in England and worked on a theater production with composer Georges Aperghis. Her critically acclaimed debut album, L’Autre Bout Du Monde was released in 2006, and featured the hit song, “Jalouse.”

Loizeau won France’s 2009 Prix Constantin music award (the French equivalent of the UK’s Mercury Prize), for her sophomore album, Pays Sauvage, which includes her hit song, “Sister.” Watch the quirky music video and check out this award-winning album. (Buy Emily Loizeau).
