I love everything about the French R&B singer Monsieur Nov. He has an incredible voice and makes catchy songs with wonderful melodies.
Monsieur Nov is my absolute favorite French R&B singer. His music uses lots of Neo Soul-ish Fender Rhodes flourishes that remind me of D’angelo’s Brown Sugar, and he can sing a door right off its hinges.
Nov has a brand new album for 2011 called Groove Therapy. The first single is a feel-good party song called “BCJC.” The chorus basically describes a guy’s outfit for a party.
BCJC stands for “basket, casquette, jean cartonnĂ©,” which means sneakers–the French call them “les baskets,” casquette, which means a baseball cap, and jean cartonnĂ© — rigid or stiff jeans. (CartonnĂ© literally means “covered with cardboard”). Check out the video and grab the new album.

If you like neo soul, and you’re interested in French R&B music, then you need to get Monsieur Nov’s amazing debut album, Sans Dessus 2 Soul. You won’t find a better French R&B album than this. Here’s the song that made me perhaps Nov’s most rabid English-speaking fan, Trop Fresh.
