French Rappers Salute Michael Jackson

In honor of MJ today, here’s a French hip hop song by FurD, which samples Kanye West referencing Michael Jackson. Did you follow that? They took a line from Kanye’s rap in Keri Hilson’s “Knock You Down,” and made a loop of the line, “This is bad, real bad, Michael Jackson” to use as the chorus. I think it’s hot, and I love that the video is totally Old School.

So, let’s talk about FurD for a minute. FurD is a French hip-hop trio of rappers Aiostar, K-LY and Thony EiiyZ.

K-LY definitely reminds me of Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, Wale and the like. You can download K-LY’s free mixtape if you want to hear more from him. (Try the Megaupload link). Aiostar and Thony EiiyZ  have eclectic influences that include Jazz, Blues, Old School Hip Hop, Rock, French music, and African music. Together as FurD, they have a genre-bending hip hop style like Kid Cudi, B.o.B, or Chiddy Bang.
