Marc Antoine is an adult contemporary French R&B singer and songwriter whose universal love songs would appeal to fans of Joe and Brian McKnight.
Marc is of Haitian descent and is based in Montreal, but it’s France where he made a huge splash with his 2008 debut, Comme Il Se Doit. He grew up listening to the music of Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men, and French singers like Francis Cabrel.
Marc’s French R&B songs tackle intimate subjects that listeners can relate to – so much so that he says his fans often stop him and tell him they feel like he’s singing about them.
His debut album featured several hit songs including “Tant Besoin de Toi,” “Triste Novembre,” and the title track, “Comme Il Se Doit.”
Marc’s sophomore album, Notre Histoire (Our Story), was released in March 2010.
I’m featuring two videos from his first album, Comme Il Se Doit. First is the video for “Tant Besoin de Toi” (I need you so much), which explores the societal pressures of an interracial relationship. The second is “Triste Novembre” (Sad November), which I picked because it’s a catchy mid-tempo song.
