Jeanne Cherhal Covers Arcade Fire

I’m always on the lookout for great French covers, and Jeanne Cherhal’s “Mon Corps Est Une Cage” definitely fits the bill. She’s one of my favorite French female singers.

Jeanne Cherhal is a Victoire de la Musique (French Grammy) winner who’s also done a little bit of film and stage acting.  But first and foremost, she’s a unique, creative musician. I love her gold album L’eau and her catchy hit, “Voila,” (See this Jeanne Cherhal post for that video).

Cherhal just released her fourth album, Charade, which is being billed as avant-garde Pop. To make the album, she spent a year isolated in a studio in Nantes, writing and composing the songs. Cherhal plays all the instruments on the album herself.

Here, she turns in a haunting performance of Arcade Fire’s “My Body Is a Cage” in French.
