Kenza Farah: French R&B Singer / Songwriter

Kenza Farah, French R&B SingerKenza Farah is a successful French R&B singer known for her deeply personal and socially conscious lyrics. She’s one among a cadre of young French Female R&B singers of North African descent on the French music scene today.

Farah was born in Algeria, raised in Marseille, France. At 14, she began performing at neighborhood festivals and winning talent competitions, and soon after, she met a music producer and recorded her first songs.

After posting some of her songs online, word spread quickly and she built up a large internet following, which landed her a record deal. Her debut album, Authentik, and her second album, Avec le Coeur (With Heart), both went gold in France.

Farah creates Hip Hop-infused R&B, often collaborating with French rappers, and is one among a cadre of young French Female R&B singers of North African descent, along with Wallen, Sheryfa Luna, Zaho, and Amel Bent.

She writes her own lyrics, which often have themes about overcoming obstacles or about the lives of minorities and immigrant youth in the ghettos of France.

I’ve been rocking out to “Là Où Tu Vas” (“Wherever You Go”) since last spring, when it appeared on the soundtrack of the French film Le Coursier. Now the song is finally available in the U.S. and the UK on Kenza Farah’s third album, Tresor.
