Marc Antoine is an adult contemporary French R&B singer and songwriter whose universal love songs would appeal to fans of Joe and Brian McKnight.
Antoine is of Haitian descent and is based in Montreal, but it’s France where he made a huge splash with his 2008 debut, Comme Il Se Doit.
He grew up listening to the music of Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men, and French singers like Francis Cabrel. Now that I think about it, that list of influenced explains the universality of his sound. Every one of the so-called R&B artists on that list has “crossover appeal,” and that’s clearly the lane where Marc Antoine’s feels most comfortable.
His songs tackle intimate subjects that listeners can relate to – so much so that he says his fans often stop him and tell him they feel like he’s singing about them.
Antoine’s debut album featured two hit songs, “Tant Besoin de Toi” and the title track, “Comme Il Se Doit.” Check out the video for Tant Besoin de Toi”:
Marc Antoine’s sophomore album Notre Histoire (Our Story) was released in 2010, and offered more of the same: radio-friendly love songs and mid-tempo numbers. The singles included “Qui Tu Aimes,” “Nous,” and the duet “Remonter le temps (tu me manques) with Sarah Riani. Check out the video for “Qui Tu Aimes”:
In 2013, Antoine released his third album, Je Ferai Tout. The first single from his new album is called “Rester Seul”:
The singer can currently be seen in the French musical Robin des Bois (Robin Hood), playing the role of Petit Jean alongside fellow Pop stars M. Pokora and Caroline Costa.
